For 140 years, KU has provided quality education to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and beyond. The university today boasts a faculty of approximately 500, and an undergraduate student body of  almost 10,000. The university comprises five colleges, and offers 48 undergraduate majors.

Currently, 9,911 undergraduate students are enrolled at the university from 26 states and 51 nations.  A well-rounded program of athletic, cultural, and social events and activities satisfies nearly every taste. Kutztown University has 330 full-time faculty members and boast a favorable 19:1 student-faculty ratio. Sixty percent of the KU faculty have doctorates, and 39% earned master's degrees.

Kutztown’s mission is to provide a quality educational experience for all enrolled students. KU’s recent physical growth has positioned the campus to meet the demands of the 21st century. New academic facilities include the science center, which boasts modern labs and state-of-the art research equipment, and a new high-tech academic forum building. And student life was recently enhanced by the addition of the student recreation center, featuring an 8,800-square foot fitness center and a climbing wall.

Kutztown University is actively dedicated to excellence in learning and to the success of its diverse community of students. KU is compromised of four undergraduate colleges - Visual and Performing Arts, Business, Education, and Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Visual and Performing Arts
The College of Visual and Performing Arts provides the opportunity for study and career preparation in the Visual Arts, Music, Speech and Theatre. There are three programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree (Music, Speech and Theatre), four programs leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (Communication Design, Crafts and Studio Art) and a Bachelor of Science program in Art Education designed for the preparation of art teachers.

Business
The Kutztown University College of Business is primarily a teaching institution that serves students from a wide variety of backgrounds.  Undergraduate students obtain, through a challenging learning environment, a comprehensive understanding of business foundations and a thorough preparation in their respective major fields of study. KU supplements this with optional profession-based career tracks. Our student-oriented faculty lead these efforts and actively contribute to applied and educational scholarship in their respective fields.

Education
KU’s education college provides the opportunity for candidates to study and prepare for a career as lifelong learners in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Special Education, Human Kinetics, Library Science and Instruction Technology, Art Education, Music Education and Counseling Education at the graduate level.

Liberal Arts and Sciences
The College's fifteen academic departments offer programs based in the rich liberal arts heritage of higher education. KU offers traditional major programs as well as contemporary majors in technology-rich areas as well as interdisciplinary opportunities. The strength of all the programs of the liberal arts and sciences college lies in a dedicated faculty who have a passion for teaching and mentoring that touches students' lives as well as their minds.

Special Programs for New Students
New Student Programs and Services primarily is involved with connecting new students to the Kutztown University community in order for them to pursue their goals and ultimately attain success in achieving them. Unique programs are offered for transfer students, freshmen, and freshmen family members.

Varsity Sports Offered by KU
Kutztown University's intercollegiate athletic program features 23 varsity sports.  

There are 10 Men's Sports: Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, Indoor Track & Field, Outdoor Track & Field, and Wrestling.

There are 13 Women's Sports: Basketball, Bowling, Cross Country, Field Hockey, Golf, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Tennis, Indoor Track & Field, Outdoor Track & Field, and Volleyball.

Recreational Services
Recreational Services is committed to enhancing the academic success, wellness, personal development and social interactions of the Kutztown University community.  The department provides opportunities for participation in a variety of activities that will contribute to individual fitness, wellness, and cooperative and competitive play. 

Residence Halls
Kutztown has several residence halls and housing opportunities (16 overall).   Some are coed, some are male/female only.  Each residence hall has the following available as a shared resource for students:

Lounge, Recreation and Study Areas
Most residence halls have a main lobby, a TV lounge, a recreation area, and a study area, which are open to students 24 hours a day. Some restrictions may apply on the usage of these facilities.

Laundry Facilities
Coin-operated washers and dryers, and ironing boards are located in the laundry room of each residence hall. Students residing in Golden Bear Village West may use the all-campus laundry facility located next to the Health Center. These are provided by Auxiliary Services.

Kitchens
Each residence hall has a kitchen area for residents' use. These kitchens, equipped with a sink, refrigerator, stove and oven are often used for special programs and activities within the residence halls. Individuals may also use them.

Located on 325 acres in Kutztown (population:4,500), the university is 20 miles from both Reading and Allentown, 90 miles from Philadelphia and 100 miles from New York City. LVI International Airport is 25 minutes from campus. The campus is in a beautiful rural Pennsylvania Dutch community, an easy walk from the borough of Kutztown which has ample stores and shops to meet the needs of students.

Kutztown is part of the beautiful rural Pennsylvania Dutch land of Berks County, Kutztown provides students and visitors wonderful festivals to enjoy, trails to hike, ample stores and shops, and so much more. Kutztown is also conveniently located midway between Reading and Allentown, and is only one and a half hours from Philadelphia and Harrisburg, two hours from New York City and three hours from the Baltimore/Washington area.
