The 2009 Princeton Review names Moravian College as one of The Best 368 Colleges in the U.S.!

Moravian College is named one of the Best Colleges in the U.S. News & Word Report Best Colleges 2009!

As America’s sixth-oldest college, Moravian delivers a values-based liberal arts education in a caring environment, through which it nurtures in students the capacities for leadership, lifelong learning, and positive societal contributions.

The mission of the school is that learning should be available to all, that teaching should be in accord with human nature, and that education should be applied to practical uses, are much in evidence at Moravian. Today, the College enrolls students from a great variety of socioeconomic, religious, racial, and ethnic backgrounds; provides for highly personalized learning experiences; and offers many opportunities for students to direct their education toward individual and professional goals.

The College expresses its Moravian heritage in musical and artistic programs of great distinction, which are shared with the Bethlehem community. Together with its cultural offerings, Moravian's handsome historic campuses, the community service of its undergraduates, and its programs of graduate and professional education for adults make it a valued part of the fabric of Bethlehem.

Moravian College's campus has two beautiful, well-maintained sections. Priscilla Payne Hurd Campus on Church Street is the center of the Bethlehem historic district; the Main Street campus is eight blocks away in a residential area. Vans allow students to commute easily between campuses. Thirty buildings include the Collier Hall of Science, Comenius Hall, Haupert Union Building, Reeves Library, Foy Concert Hall, Payne Art Gallery, and the Brethren’s House.

The majority of Moravian’s residence halls are located on the Main Street Campus in a residential section of the Bethlehem community. In an effort to accommodate a range of lifestyle preferences, housing units vary from larger, traditional residence halls to small group units, fraternity and sorority houses, apartments and townhouses.

Bethlehem, Moravian's home, is an attractive tree-lined city of 75,000 in the center of the Lehigh Valley community, with a population of more than 600,000. Known as the Christmas City, Bethlehem is home also for Bethlehem Steel Corporation and a growing number of businesses in service and technology fields.

Moravian's two campuses are at either end of "the Moravian Mile," a stretch of Main Street that includes the attractive downtown shopping district. Downtown Bethlehem features shops for clothing, gifts, jewelry, books (at the Moravian Book Shop operated by the Moravian Church since 1745), a movie theatre, and restaurants ranging from Billy's Downtown Diner to Johnny’s Bagels.

Bethlehem is a city which has blended culture and commerce, progress and preservation. Among its cultural highlights are the Bach Festival in May, the nine-day Musikfest drawing a million visitors each August, the Celtic Classic in September, and the events and displays of the Christmas season, which attract many thousands of guests from all over the world. A special Christmas event is the College's annual candlelight Christmas Vespers service in Central Moravian Church, which attracts well over 5,000 participants.
